Hello! This section is for anyone who may be interested in at least finding out who I am and why I got into this business venture. My name is Mark and I am currently 28 years old. I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and currently reside with my wife in Kearns, Utah... a suburb of Salt Lake City.
As a kid, I was always a fan of horror films series and was quite often dressed as my favorite nightmare man for Halloween. When I was in high school, I stopped dressing up for Halloween but only because I was working for a local Haunted House.
Fast-forward to 2007. I was looking through a magazine that was featuring Halloween items and I saw a metal glove for sale. I had completely forgotten about my childhood interest in the glove and for some reason, that item reignited my interest.
I went online and found an affordable metal glove and I was so excited to receive it, I felt like a child on Christmas Eve once again. I find it to be weird that there I was.. a 27-year old man acting giddy over a metal glove used in films to kill children. Call me morbid if you wish... but I had always wanted one just for fun (not with real blades of course).
So, it arrived. I loved it. After looking at the glove and seeing how many the seller had sold, I thought, "Hey! It might be fun to make gloves of my own!" So, I looked into it. I drew up my own templates and with some help from the guy who sold me my first glove, I was ready to move forward.
I purchased a 10-foot sheet of 16 oz. copper and a sheet of 16-gauge steel. But I had no clue how to cut the metal. I had some metal shears but I was not satisfied with the results. So, I shopped around to have my metal parts cut professionally. I found a local water-jet cutting company and turned my supplies and templates over to them.
So, there I was with hundreds of metal pieces of copper and 100 steel blades. I purchased 2 dozen pairs of leather gloves and leather dye and went to work.
Struggling to become known in the glove-building business, I sold my first few gloves on eBay at a discount to bidders to help build a reputation of my own. But as I became better known in the glove-building scene, I built my own website and haven't looked back since.
I have been very pleased with the "reviews" I have been getting from buyers and have yet to have any negative comments. Please visit my "Glove Reviews" section for actual comments from my buyers so far.
But, that's pretty much all you really need to know (as if you needed to know anything to begin with) about me. I'm just a guy, with a weird hobby, hoping to put a few smiles on people's faces and hopefully cause a few nightmares for their friends and families at the same time. :-)
